Bubble Tea: The trendy alternative to soft drinks, easy to make with a top-of-the-range blender

Bubble Tea, also known as pearl tea, has become extremely popular all over the world. Originally from Taiwan, this refreshing, tasty drink is a delicious, healthy alternative to traditional soft drinks. In this article, we'll explain what Bubble Tea is, the basic ingredients and some creative recipes. We will also highlight the essential role of a top-of-the-range blender when preparing this essential drink.

What is Bubble Tea?

Bubble Tea is a tea-based drink, either hot or cold, with fruity or creamy flavours. What sets Bubble Tea apart from other drinks is the addition of soft tapioca pearls, also known as 'bubbles' or 'boba', which add a unique texture to every sip. Tapioca pearls are made from manioc root and can be flavoured.

The ingredients in bubble tea

Tea:

Bubble Tea is traditionally made with black tea, but you can also use green tea, fruit tea or even herbal infusions. Make sure you use high-quality tea to get the best results in terms of taste and colour.

Tapioca pearls:

Tapioca pearls are the key ingredient in Bubble Tea. They are available in Asian food shops or online in a variety of flavours, such as chocolate, strawberry or taro. Tapioca pearls should be cooked in boiling water until soft, then rinsed in cold water before use.

Syrup or fruit syrup:

To add flavour and sweetness to Bubble Tea, you can use cane sugar syrup or fruit syrups such as mango, strawberry or lychee syrup.

Milk or plant-based milk:

For a creamy version of Bubble Tea, you can add ordinary milk or plant-based milk such as almond, coconut or soya.
