Categorie : News

More and more people are looking for alternatives to dairy, whether for health or ethical reasons. Almond milk is a popular option, but store-bought versions can be expensive and often contain additives. Luckily, it's easy to make your own home-made almond milk with our versatile Minipro immersion hand-held blender. In this article we will explain how to make your own almond milk and the benefits it can provide.

The benefits of almond milk

Almond milk is rich in essential nutrients such as vitamin B and E, calcium and magnesium. It’s also low in saturated fat and calories, making it a healthy alternative to dairy. Moreover, almond milk is lactose-free, making it an ideal option for people suffering from lactose intolerance or who are sensitive to dairy.

The almond milk recipe

These are the steps to make your own home-made almond milk using a blender :

Step 1 - Soak the almonds

First, soak one cup of raw almonds in water overnight or for at least 8 hours. This will soften the almonds and make them easier to blend.

Step 2 - Blend the almonds with water

Drain the almonds and rinse them in cold water. Then put them in the blender with 4 cups of water and blend until smooth and creamy.

Step 3 - Strain the almond milk

Pour the mixture into an almond milk bag or fine cloth and squeeze out the milk. You can also use a fine sieve to filter the almond milk. You will get about 4 cups of almond milk.

Step 4 - Seasoning and storage

Add a pinch of sea salt and a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey to add flavour to your almond milk. You can also add cinnamon or vanilla to vary the flavours. Store your home-made almond milk in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 or 4 days.

DIY savings

Making your own almond milk is a money-saver compared to store-bought versions. A cup of almonds is cheaper than a bottle of almond milk, and you can make several litres of almond milk from a small quantity of almonds.

Why make your own almond milk?

Making your own almond milk is a healthy, money-saving option. You can control the ingredients you use, avoid additives and preservatives and get a fresh, natural product. Buying almonds in bulk can also save you money in the long run.

Moreover, home-made almond milk can be adapted to your tastes and preferences. You can adjust the amount of water to get a thicker or thinner texture, and add ingredients such as honey, vanilla or spices to add flavour.

Finally, making your own almond milk is a more eco-friendly alternative. By not buying bottled almond milk, you reduce your carbon footprint by reducing plastic waste and avoiding transport.
